A little stop over at Koh Samui to catch some sun and chill out before we head back to London. Was nice to come back to the same place we stayed a on our last visit through Thailand. Things have changed as they do, more stuff, but still a little bit of paradise - if you get away from Chaweng Beach and Lamai town centre.

On one of the nights we went along to The Thai Experience. This was a closed door restaurant/dinner party where you learn a bit about Thai food and culture, meet some people, have a drink or three and enjoy some amazing Thai inspired foods. The whole night was really good, informative and well put together by the team. The owner Richard, hosts the night and delivers most of the talking and explanations as we sample foods and drinks, he was a nice guy, not too in ya face and nicely inclusive. His staff were all really good at their jobs and entertaining. We had a little bit of a worry that the event would be a bit naff (well we did have to wear hats and aprons) and boring but we ended up being really happy we went along.
Another place we really wanted to check out was The Jungle Club. Perched high up on a mountain over looking Chaweng and situated amongst some trees - this place is spectacular and the food and drinks are awesome. Run by a nice family, you can stay up at The Jungle Club for a load of cash or for reasonably cheap, but don't walk up there... we did and we deserved a drink or two on arrival. Call ahead and get them to pick you up at the bottom of the hill, well worth the 100 baht.
A pit stop halfway up the hill side
Fire twirling show on Chaweng beach
Boi's Organic Coffee - making you the freshest and tastiest locally produced coffee on Samui
Taking a scooter down to the southern part of the island was where we found a bit of peace and quiet. The beaches had little to no people on them and we also found The Hideaway - restaurant, owned by an English guy and his Thai wife. They offered really nice hospitality and their food was gooooood!
The water was really shallow around this side of the island and you could walk far out into the bay
Douy's bird - These birds are found in shops and out the front of people's homes in Thailand. These particular birds are championed and competitions are held quite regularly where people can win money if their bird has the best sounding sing.

A night out at Lamai beach - we found a nice bar outside and all the girls working in the bars would pole dance and serve drinks - they were very funny and they didn't take things too seriously. We had fun drinking there and even had a little dance!!!!
