Ao Nang was a short boat journey across the Andaman Sea from Phuket - on the way we got to see the beautiful Railay Beach which is surrounded by thick jungle, twisted rocks and a long sandy beach. Railay - is a jagged peninsular that is isolated from mainland Thailand.
Ao Nang was more than we expected - the beach was lovely the town had plenty of shops and things to do, and not being too busy it felt like our own little paradise.

For our few days in Ao Nang we just lazed around, got a massage, ate fruit and swam. Every afternoon on low tide locals would come out and collect cockles for their dinner. One afternoon John spent a few minutes filling his swimming shorts pockets with the cockles and gave them to a young women and her daughter who came down to start their daily collection. They were really happy to take John's catch.
