Pangkor Island Malaysia16/08/12-19/08/12

Pangkor Island is on the west side, just of the coast of Malaysia, it is quite small and you need to catch a ferry from Lumut on the mainland to get on the island. We arrived to Pangkor a few days before the end of Ramaden which meant we had a few days to explore the island and appreciate it for it's vista and quaint quietness. Literally hundreds of locals bombarded the island the day before the end of the fasting and start of Ramaden celebrations. They filled ferry after ferry and made the island a little bit less relaxing and feel a lot more commercial. We got out of there quick smart when we got wind of the masses coming and headed up to Penang.

I really enjoyed Pangkor, it was just relaxing and I didn't mind just sitting around all day peering into the distance or strolling around the island shores. Ann and I made little adventures out of short walks (see cave goose) and spent most of the time with a cold drink sitting by the sea and occasionally having a little sluice around in the water.

We went snorkelling out on another island just in front of Pangkor - it was a bit scary because the little fishes are so use to people they just come up and nibble on your legs, the back of your arm or wherever. We saw some amazing fish though, such as a few Parrot fish, some Angle fish and bi Bass like ones. Also there was a lot of Sea Cucumbers.
