Pakse 8th-10th Oct

We arrived late at night in Pakse after a very long journey from Konglor Village. We started the journey by catching a Tuk Tuk at 6am out the front of the guest house we stayed at in Konglor, which slowly filled up with locals and their produce - including and not limited to - rice, ducks, wood, kids, etc. - over the five hour journey we stopped and gathered 30 people and crammed further and further into the back of the trucks tray - check out the quick video below for a sneak peak of the packed out ride!!!!

We got to Thakket just in time to grab a sandwich and a ticket for the bus. We thought we would grab a seat as quick as we could and luckily we did - the bus filled up so much that there were no seats left - well no official seats - so they pulled out their trusty stack of plastic stools and the 18 extra passengers sat one in front of the other down the isle (we wish we took a photo of this claustrophobic nightmare).

We arrive to Pakse at 1am the following morning - tired, sore, and totally over commuting - and had to face the onslaught of Tuk-Tuk drivers begging for our business and the commission of delivering a ragged weary travellers to a waiting hotel/hostel. Luckily we met some fellow weary travellers and all grouped together and choose a place to stay that wasn't too bad - but bad enough for us to bother getting up early before check -out and finding another place to reside.

We don't have many photos of Pakse - because we didn't do much but rest and refuel - and get ready for 4000 Islands and especially Don Det....

Konglor Village 6th-8th Oct

We heard about an amazing underground river that runs 7.5km through a mountain in Konglor Village and that you can take a long-tail boat through the mountain cave and see stalagmites and stalactites and pop out on the other side and visit another small village. So we went there and were not disappointed at all, the village was lovely made up of not many people and there was only about 5 tourists in total in the village.

Hot John

Our guest house 60,000kip £4.65 or $7.24 per night, the views were amazing on one side was rice fields stretching to a far away community and in front (as above) rice fields stretching toward a sharp vertical jut - this mountain range kept Konglor Village secluded and only accessible from the north.

Above - Chanta Guest house - was an awesome place to stay. The owner Ai and his young family were very nice and helpful. They also hosted the best view in town - from our room - and the biggest Gekho we have ever seen!!!!

Konglor Cave 7.5km in the dark!!!

We don't have many photos from inside as it was really dark

After about 10min the boat pulled in at a patch of land and the guide walked up to a little box on the wall and to our amazement turned the lights on.......

We had a small walk over some rocks and through to the other side where the boat met back up with us.

On the other side of the cave we popped out and took a little path through the trees to visit a small community.
