Luang Prabang is my favourite place in Laos, free from any coporations or chain stores like 7/11's this town is fully a modern Laos town, heavliy influence by French architecture and cuisine. It is not hard to find a good coffee or wine and really nice food.
The journey to get from Chiang Mai in Thailand to Luang Prabang was certainly an experience worth being awake 24hrs for and possibly losing your life over - or in John's case, his virginity. The sleeper bus experience is something every South-east Asian traveller should try out one time in their journey, but it is not for the easily disturbed or the extra-large type.
We took a tuk tuk to a beautiful waterfall with two others that we met on the way to Luang Prabang Colm and Amando.
As I had been here before 3 years ago I remembered there was a path up
the side of the big waterfall to the top and you can look over the edge of the falls. Although it seemed to be alot more overgrown and eroded since my last visit and the climb was hard work - but well worth it.
The view from the top was amazing... and this photo (below) doesn't capture what it was really like!!!

Collywobbles tried the rope swing out down the bottom of the waterfalls in the pools with the locals - his plan was for a back flip - he successfully completed one of the best back flops we have ever seen.
The next day John and I went to Tad Sae waterfall - a short Tuk Tuk ride out of town to a small river side village, followed by a long tail boat to cross the river and a little walk up the hill on the other side and we found the beautiful cascades of Tad Sae.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Back in Luang Prabang
Sitting in a restaurant by the river, we watched the boats go by and relaxed.

In the centre of Luang Prabang is a large hill with a Buddhist temple on the top. One afternoon we climbed to the top to watch the sun set as we heard in was a nice sight from up there.
..............1 million stairs later...........
and the view was awesome!
Me having a quick breakfast before we start the 7hr bus ride to Vang Vieang
